Meghan Markle revealed two bad habits she admitted were ‘unladylike’
Meghan Markle has become known as the epitome of elegance in the last year.
Stepping out for royal engagements, she always looks well put-together in stunning designer outfits – and even makes a messy bun look classy.
She dazzled in a gorgeous Givenchy dress and diamond bandeau tiara at her wedding in May and has seemed to slot into the royal family seamlessly – crossing her legs properly and wowing the public on every walkabout.
But there are two bad habits Meghan has admitted to having in the past which the Queen might disapprove of.
Writing on her website The Tig, which has now been taken down, Meghan revealed that every year she makes a New Year’s resolution to put a stop to two things most people are guilty of doing.
She wrote: “Run a marathon. Stop biting my nails. Stop swearing. Re-learn French. These make my New Year’s resolution list nearly (AKA actually every) single year.
“The marathon hasn’t happened. The swearing comes in lulls triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple drinks.
“And when it comes to the biting of the nails – well, it still happens with a turbulent flight or a stressful day. It’s unladylike. But then again, so is the swearing. Dammit.”
As it’s nearly New Year again, there’s a chance the Duchess of Sussex might renew her resolution to give up nail-biting and swearing – even though she never swears in public and her nails always look perfect to us.
But Meghan admitted in her post, which she wrote on January 1, 2016, that she’d come to the conclusion she wasn’t going to give either up.
So it’s likely she still has the self-confessed ‘unladylike’ traits – unless she thought she had to ditch them to be a royal.
She wrote: “This year I resolve to not have a resolution. If I can’t run a marathon, that’s okay. (I’m getting older – my knees are bothering me.)
“My nails will be fine, and if I toss out a four letter word once in a blue moon, well frankly I think it adds character.
“For this new year, the only thing I aim to do is to approach life playfully. To laugh and enjoy, to keep my standards high but my level of self-acceptance higher.”
Less than three years on from this post, Meghan has got engaged, had a wedding, become pregnant with her first child and become a firm fixture in the British royal family – even going on her first overseas royal tour with Prince Harry.
So if she still bites her nails and swears, there’s hope for the rest of us with bad habits, right?
