On January 16, 2019, some of the biggest rock groups in the world will come together to perform at I Am The Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornellhonoring the late Soundgarden singer’s legacy and contribution to music history. Cornell died on May 18, 2017, in Detroit after a Soundgarden concert at age 52 from what the medical examiner determined was suicide.

Cornell was best known as lead vocalist for Soundgarden and Audioslave, as well as being the founder and frontman for the tribute group Temple of the Dog. The epic night of music in his honor will take place at The Forum in Los Angeles and feature members of Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog, and special performances by the Foo Fighters, Metallica and Ryan Adams.

The event will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and benefit both the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation and The Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds for the painful genetic disorder which Cornell supported.

His wife Vicky shared in the press release, “We are honored to have all these amazing artists and friends come together to pay tribute to and show their love and appreciation for Chris, his music and the mark he’s left on the world.  We look forward to sharing this night with all the fans.”

Tickets will go on sale on Friday (Nov. 16) at 10 a.m. PST here. Each ticket purchased online will include a copy of Cornell’s self-titled career retrospective album. On the same day, fans will also be able to purchase a 64-track limited-edition box set, including 11 unreleased Cornell songs, the first release since his passing.
